A surge in the U.S. dollar index

Since June of 2021, the U.S. Dollar has appreciated more than 15 percent against a basket of other developed world currencies. In particular, the dollar strength has driven the EUR/USD currency pair to near parity. Therefore, this month we considered how long the run-up could last and what might cause a peak that would lead to the U.S. Dollar depreciating from current levels.

As a result, we turned to Chris Phillips, Head of Structured Products, and his team to discuss the Bank’s foreign exchange solution.
